We never know who will show, and each time the group is adventurous and each person is glad they made the trek. The hikes go off as scheduled, rain (gimmie a break, in San Diego)? or dark, or bright moonlight. We have had over 200 participants since starting this every full moon hike tradition.

Here are the details: meet at the parking lot at the Northeast corner of Golfcrest and Navajo Road at 7:17pm. (Thomas Brothers Map Page 1250,  F4). We will head up the mountain at 7:33pm SHARP! If there's nobody there, you missed the group. RUN!

We should be down the mountain and back in the parkinglot within an hour an a half after starting. After the hike some of the group may grab a bite to eat.

Your friends are welcome to join us (it is an inclusive group).

If you don't know about Cowles Mountain, here is some more information: It is the highest spot in the City of San Diego at 1,591 feet elevation. It is in the heart of Mission Trails Regional Park, which at 5,700 acres is the largest urban park west of the Mississippi River. The hike is only 3 miles, round trip. The trail is steep (average grade:12%), has many switchbacks, and is well marked.  Active people of all ages (we've had ages 18-70) are welcome. The view from the top is spectacular and includes Santee, El Cajon, La Mesa, Mission Valley, Miramar, Downtown San Diego, Coronado and Mexico.  On exceptionally clear nights, we've seen Oceanside and Escondido. Check out a 360 degree view from the top of Cowles in the daytime.

No need to RSVP, just show up.

See ya there,
Dan
